Meet Michele
Michele Stollard
A steady presence for life's most meaningful transitions
Michele Stollard is the founder of Sacred Space and the heart behind Sacred Space Death Care. Her work is rooted in presence — the kind that listens deeply, moves slowly, and remains steady in moments that often feel overwhelming.
Michele comes to end-of-life care with a rare and deeply complementary background: years as a registered nurse, a longtime yoga instructor, and a certified end-of-life doula. Together, these experiences shape a care philosophy that honors both the practical realities of dying and the emotional, spiritual, and human needs that are so often overlooked.
From Nursing to Sacred Care
After many years working as an RN, Michele began to feel a growing disconnect within the medical system when it came to supporting people at the end of life. While medicine excels at treating disease, she saw how frequently the emotional, spiritual, and relational needs of the dying — and their families — were left unmet.
This realization planted a seed.
Michele has always been drawn to honoring our roots, trusting our instincts, and remembering what humans have known for centuries: that death, like birth, deserves presence, care, and reverence.
Reconnecting Mind, Body, and Spirit
In 2015, Michele became a certified yoga instructor as a way to help people reconnect with their bodies and inner wisdom. Yoga taught her how profoundly the nervous system responds to safety, breath, and gentle awareness — lessons that would later become foundational to her death care work.
When Michele learned about death doulas, she recognized the work immediately as her calling.
By combining her nursing background with yoga, sound healing, and end-of-life doula training, Michele now supports individuals and families in creating a safe, intentional, and sacred space for the final transition — one rooted in dignity, choice, and compassion.
How Michele Supports Families
Michele’s role is not to lead, fix, or take over — it is to walk beside.
She supports families by:
- Offering calm presence and guidance during end-of-life transitions
- Helping individuals feel supported, heard, and honored
- Supporting loved ones through uncertainty, grief, and decision-making
- Creating space for ritual, legacy, and meaning
Her work centers on helping people meet death with less fear and more agency — and helping families feel less alone in the process.
A Life Lived Fully
Outside of Sacred Space, Michele is a wife and a mother to two curious, spirited boys and shares her home with dogs, cats, and the occasional unexpected animal in need of care. She finds grounding in nature, often foraging in the woods or making a joyful mess in the kitchen.
These everyday acts of nurturing, creativity, and connection are not separate from her work — they are an extension of it.
